When buying a brake controller, you need the controller AND the wiring adapter/connector that goes under your dashboard. Maybe some brands sell them together, but not most, because they are specific to vehicle brand and model, so do some research and find out what you need for your vehicle. Brake controllers come with 4 bare wires out the back, or a "4-flat' connector and your dashboard likely has a connector with a 'box' style quick connect, If so, you need something to connect the two.Now, onto the problem with this item: This product DOES NOT come with the quick connect plug as shown in the photo, it comes with bare wires.There were two listing of this product, one that showed bare wires out the back, and this one, a little more expensive, that showed a quick connect 4-pin wiring plug; that is why I chose this one. But both the lower price one ...bought this for my 2011 f-150 crewcab...fit fine on doorside under steering wheel...tried it just twice, but seems to do just as good of a job as the ones a bit more expense...pulling my 19ft. boat or my 23ft. r.v. it seems to work well...this unit also came with matching bracket, which i would highly recommend, unless you are good with fashioning your own...Great value for dual axle trailer brake controller, downside is the obvious lack of precision control due to analog designIt works great but read instructions a couple of times, DON'T hook power backwards you will smoke the controller.
